What is a "Pioneer"?

   We all know about the men and women who braved many hardships to established towns, homes and families in a wilderness of unknown possibilities. Pictures of prairie schooners loaded with hardy people filled with the dream of having a place to call home, all their worldly possessions piled high, making their way across the vast expanses of prairie comes to mind. They wanted a better life for their children and their children's children. 

   This isn't much different then what we want today. The prairie schooner has been replaced with mini vans, trucks and cars but we still hold onto the dream of having a  better life. This blog is dedicated to being a pioneer at heart in today's world.
   Please join my family and I as we "homestead" in an urban setting. Follow us as we learn new skills and have fun keeping our pioneer family healthy, happy and having fun! Still dreaming of having a piece of land to call our own one day but until then we make do just as our forefathers did.
